If you really want to speak English, feel free to do it with me.
I live in Sydney and although my mother language is French,
English is the language spoken in my household.
Best way to speak English fluently is to speak it and/ or write it.
I also would suggest watching as many English movies/ news/ etc…as
well as read books/magazines/ newspapers in English.
I wish you all the best in your endeavour.29 février 2020 à 9 h 57 min #80492AnonymeInactif
I do like improving my English by reading or listening radios. In addition I participate once a day to an English workshop.
I would enjoy to exchange with people like me.
Best greetings to you all.
You are welcome.16 avril 2020 à 12 h 28 min #81349AnonymeInactif

Ohh very good !
I think if this page had not been created, I would have opened it
I too would like to boost my level in English.
I think immersion is the important key, i don’t spend enough time in the english bath during the day.
Many people say that “friends” or “The Simpsons” are effective, did you test it?11 octobre 2020 à 22 h 40 min #84574MarkHParticipant
I’m English and living in France.
In my opinion it can be very useful to watch television with the original language spoken and your own language displayed in subtitles. Although it can be hard to begin with. Perserverence is the key!
Be careful though with English as there are different versions of English. Both “Friends” and “The Simpsons” use American English. Lots of different words are used for British English and Australian English. (I have often had to translate for American and Australian colleagues).
Pensez au français contre le québecois! 🙂
Also, regional english accents can sometimes be hard to understand, even for english people.
This is why Americans will only watch series from London. Anything outside London is often remade for the American market so they can understand.
A couple of good series from London are “Luther” and “Sherlock”. If you are not interested in police dramas, then there is always “Fleabag”.
I hope this helps.11 octobre 2020 à 23 h 33 min #84577AnonymeInactif

I think this team’s creation is an excellent idea!
I’m a student but this year I haven’t English lessons… 😔 So it can be a good exercise for me to -try to- speak English with others!
Thanks!😉13 novembre 2020 à 13 h 02 min #84995AnonymeInactif
My wife speaks english ( french, english, swahili)
MarkH is right: watching series in OV with subtitles is a good way to learn. But, it is interresting to put sub in english too, so you can read and listening the same time.
You can also use youtube as a tool for practicing, indeed, you can listening to your favorite songs with the lyrics.
